BlackBerry bold 9780 review: Business as usual

IT's no surprise that the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is the next logical Evolutionary step, rather than a complete makeover that will drive it in the same league as the iPhone and Android. RIM has a loyal core of customers whose bond with Mark goes beyond the obvious business benefits. And devices the bold 9780 is certainly something to Bond.

From a geek's perspective, a new generation of gadgets evolve into a new generation of users. Radical, rebellious, no sense of history and no respect for authorities. In the world of business, each new generation of gadgets that generations of users feel at home.

There's no moral dilemma for Blackberry. They know is trying to introduce new features and UI tweaks with each new generation involves substantial risk of certain changes to beat. But they haven t given up the flashlight and the storm, they have? Although it's obviously much easier to stick to a tested recipe and only add things that's been proven to work.

1.2 Ghz Blackberry Torch 2 road, 11 mm-thin curve Apollo too

That nice Blackberry Dakota is yesterday, apparently in for some companies. We spotted a couple of new units of the company leaked in all of its press honor and full specification. Meet Blackberry Curve Torch 2 and Apollo.

It seems Blackberry plans to go big has some big plans for this year. As much as we appreciate their service, you can't deny they are offering only during spec'd, expensive mobile phones recently. But they have obviously had enough of this.

Next-generation Blackberry flashlight (aptly named Torch 2) will double processor clock speed of the original of the entire 1.2 GHz.

BlackBerry Torch 2

New uber-BlackBerry also has a 3.2-inch VGA display, 8 gigs of storage, 512 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, GPS, a digital compass, a proximity sensor and a 5 megapixel camera. NFC support comes as an unexpected bonus.

Torch 2 runs Blackberry OS 6.1 and will launch in Q3 (at least in the AT&T network in the United States).

If the recently leaked devices are anything to go by, the Blackberry on the way to experience the basic specs of its entire portfolio. The line graph is not entirely known for its advanced functionality or performance, but leaked curve Apollo has some nice specs-at least on paper.

Here is how the next generation BlackBerry Curve will look like. Preserve the traditional appearance, is a new BlackBerry Curve Apollo trendy and modern at the same time.

BlackBerry Apollo Curve

BlackBerry Curve codenamed Apollo has a HVGA screen (480 x 360 pixels), a Marvel Tavor MG-1 800 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM, Wireless N, GPS, and again, NFC connection. We did a little digging on the processor and it seems it is the same kernel used on Marvel all previous blackberries, but it is now clocked at 800 Mhz instead of 624 Mhz. We hope that enough to draw a nice feature in the new Blackberry OS 6.1.

Finally, the BlackBerry Curve Apollo is just 11 mm thin and has a 5-megapixel camera with flash. We do not know any more details about its availability just yet.

BlackBerry Dakota photo and specs leak again

Good news for all Blackberry lovers! A new photo of Blackberry Dakota leaked today and it looks exactly like its prototype, which we covered Magnum almost a year ago. Only thing different is the trackpad that was added to the device, and shot in some of the specifications.

This BlackBerry, codenamed Dakota, will pack a 2.8-inch Capacitive touch display with a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a full physical QWERTY keyboard. It rocks a 5 MP camera with flash can record HD video. Also included are 4 GB of internal storage and 768 MB RAM. What processor will drive it remains unknown, however.

A major addition is 3 G Mobile HotSpot that has been added, to allow the Dakota to spread some Internet love for the other devices around. Not to mention NFC connection. N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and MicroUSB port come as any surprise.

In addition, Dakota will be delivered with the new Blackberry 6.1, announced yesterday on the BlackBerry DevCon Asia. The new version of the BlackBerry platform now supports the Magnetometer and Digital Compass APIs, OpenGL ES 2.0, an event-base geo-fencing location APIs and much more.

Rates and availability for BlackBerry Dakota remains obscure. Who knows, maybe RIM will shed some light to the Dakota at the World Mobile Congress.
