Starting today, you will be able to log into our comments with your Facebook account. No, you don't need a Facebook account to comment, but it makes things easier for both you and us. You benefit by reserving a nickname on our site using Facebook's authentication system, and we benefit from simpler and more precise comments moderation. It is in a nutshell, read further down for more information about the entire affair.
We get thousands of comments a day! Comments on everything from opinions on phones, comments on news articles or reviews. We care about privacy, so we allow anonymous posting, but opens the door to trolling or bashing and it is only counterproductive.
We have automated systems to catch most spam and our moderators do their best to weed out the remaining comments as "poor". But they can't get everything.
Bad comments hampers usefulness of comments-personal impression, patches, and interesting links helping both us and our users.
We avoided to introduce our own system of registration for several reasons:
We hate to create an account on each and every siteWe would rather not store the personal infoMost people can bypass moderation justice by simply registering new accounts
We have found a good solution, which solves these problems. Facebook Connect enables secure, reliable authentication. We do not have access to your personal information, authentication is done with the Facebooks servers, we just want you to pick a nickname that you use on our website.
To register, open the page to register nicknames and hit login with Facebook button. You will be redirected to Facebook, where you need to log in and authorize GSMArena.com to get access to basic information.
Not to worry, that does not allow us to publish something on your Facebook wall or news feed, no one gets your GSMArena.com comments appear anywhere on Facebook.
When you do this, you'll be redirected back to the page to register. Enter a nickname, and click Send-ready! The nickname is reserved and will be applied automatically in the future. Best of all, you can change it, if you have any other thoughts.
Register a nickname with Facebook Connect
Later, you can change your nickname to something else (as long as it has not been registered). Just open the page register nickname and enter the new nick (Note: you must be logged into Facebook Connect to make it).

One thing must now be clear. We do not turn off anonymous posting feature. But as usual the anonymous posts will continue to go through multiple controls and will be held for moderator approval for the most part.
